Every evening I am in Seattle, I try to make it to the rooftop of my apartment building to watch the sunset. I am fortunate to be in a building that is right on the waterfront. I have a wonderful view of Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains.
When I am not out and about taking cooking classes meeting with friends or coworkers for dinner, you can almost always find me on the roof sitting at a table with my e-reader, wearing a pair of sunglasses, and staring at the water. This is my way to wind down for the night. Sometimes I call my mom to check in with her, see how her day was, and catch her up with what’s going on in my life.
I could probably share hundreds of pictures as the view and experience of the sunset is different day to day and even minute to minute. To be honest, most of the time I just sit there and breathe. I don’t pull out my phone to take a picture or bring my digital SLR camera to the roof often. I simply wind down, and think of how thankful I am to be here on this earth and seeing part of its beauty.
One evening I was graced with the company of a seagull. While the Seagull chose to enjoy the view of the Seattle skyline, I enjoyed the view of this beautiful bird standing among a picturesque backdrop.
Every night I look forward to the sunset. When the sun slips behind the Olympic mountains, I am somewhat sad as I usually want it to last longer. Time moves too fast, but taking a moment to enjoy a sunset is never a wrong decision.
