Winter in Seattle is much different than in North Dakota. North Dakota gets snow, blizzards, bitter winds, and sunshine. When the sun does shine in ND, it is usually accompanied by temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit and a bitter wind chill.
In Seattle, it rains, and rains, and when it doesn’t rain, it is usually cloudy and grey. I don’t mind it too much, but it helps you appreciate the sun that much more. While the temperature doesn’t dip below 40 degrees F too often, the cloudy skies interfere with my favorite view of the Olympic mountains.
It seems the only days that they are visible are when I am stuck in an office with no windows or view. By the time I get home from work, it is dark or they are covered again. It isn’t all that bad. I am really looking forward to the evenings with sunsets and mountains again.
When the sun does appear in Seattle, you need to take the time to stop and enjoy it. It decided to show itself Sunday morning to brighten up the place. I made my way to the rooftop of our apartment building with my new camera to snap a couple of pictures.
The sun as always, does a wonderful job of bringing to life the colors in the Evergreen city. As more clouds roll in to start the game of hide and seek with the sun, we will wait patiently for the game to finish. We will continue to enjoy the slow decline of rainy days and the slight increase of the warmth the sun gives when it does peek through the clouds.
